After several years of inactivity, pastoral musicians from parishes across the Diocese have come together in an attempt to re-invigorate the Fort Worth Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians. Your participation in this reorganizational effort will ensure that it meets the need of every pastoral musician in every parish of the Diocese. We look forward to your participation.
The first task undertaken has been that of recommending Mass Settings for the new English translations. Those who attended the recently held NPM conference agreed to survey the settings presented and annotate what they heard. Included with this message, are recommendations from that undertaking.
The vision for this organizational year is to build a strong chapter, with the mission of the national organization as our foundation: "The National Association of Pastoral Musicians fosters the art of musical liturgy. The members of NPM serve the Catholic Church in the United States as musicians, clergy, liturgists, and other leaders of prayer."
As an affiliate of the national organization, and with the support of the Diocese of Fort Worth, we will work to foster an environment of prayer and worship through music. For all those involved in music ministry and the clergy, we seek to:
· Provide an educational forum on the issues affecting musical practice in the parish
· Facilitate opportunities to improve our skills
· Work together to deepen our spiritual lives to better serve our parish communities
